CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa â Todd Claus has made his mark as the Cedar Rapids Kernels' manager.
In his first year as a manager, Claus guided the Kernels into the 2002 playoffs, ending a four-year absence by the team, and was named the 2002 Midwest League Manager of the Year.
Now Claus is zeroing in on a milestone in his young managerial career.
Heading into a four-game home series against West Michigan, which opens tonight and runs through Monday, Claus is one shy of 100 career wins. His career record is 99-73, a .576 winning percentage.
The Kernels (18-15) entertain the Whitecaps (17-17) tonight at 6:30, Saturday at 5 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m. and Monday at 6:30 p.m. Tonight is Coe College Night, Saturday is The Fox 100.7 Tips for Trips/Breast Cancer Awareness Night and Sunday is Mercy Medical Center Heart-to-Heart Day.
The ticket office opens at 10 a.m. each day. Gates open today at 5:30 p.m., Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Sunday's game will be televised by Fox 28/40.
