July 24, 2013 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Portland Timbers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - The City of Portland today designated Aug. 4-10, 2013, as Portland Timbers Stand Together Week during an official proclamation presented by Mayor Charlie Hales at the Portland City Council meeting Wednesday. In its second year, Stand Together Week is a citywide initiative bringing the community together in support of nonprofit projects and volunteer opportunities across the city.

In 2013, Stand Together Week, with the help of Hands On Greater Portland, will consist of upwards of 30 volunteer projects, benefitting more than 20 organizations focused on youth and the environment across the Portland metro area.

Fans are invited to volunteer and team up with Timbers players, mascot Timber Joey, select Portland Thorns FC players, Timbers alumni ambassadors and club staff on the various projects. All available Timbers and Thorns FC players will volunteer their time to at least one project during the week.

Supported by partners adidas, Alaska Airlines, CenturyLink, Coca-Cola and Providence Health & Services, Stand Together Week, named after the Timbers' community outreach platform, commences Sunday, Aug. 4, with a community cleanup of Dairy Creek Park in Hillsboro. Each project will engage fans and community members and have a meaningful impact on the community, and activities range from outdoor park/garden maintenance to construction projects and aiding in special youth initiatives.

To sign up as a volunteer for one of the Stand Together Week projects or for more information on the overall initiative, please visit www.portlandtimbers.com/standtogetherweek.
