Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, announced today they have received nine players from American Hockey League (AHL) clubs.
The Rockford Ice Hogs have returned defenseman Matt Macdonald from his tryout agreement. Macdonald will practice with the Cyclones this weekend.
The Montreal Canadiens AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, have returned forwards Barret Ehgoetz and Scott Reynolds, to the club, while defenseman Gerard Miller, who is currently under contract with the Cyclones, remains in Hamilton. The Bulldogs were the Calder Cup champions last season.
The Nashville Predators AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, have returned the four Cyclones players sent to their camp last week. Forwards Jean-Michel Daoust, Travis Fuller and Avery Wilson, with defenseman Conrad Martin, will be in the Queen City for the start of training camp this weekend. The Admirals have also assigned center Andrew Martin and defenseman Tyler Howells to Cincinnati. Milwaukee, which won the Calder Cup in 2003-04, has four consecutive 40-plus win seasons.
Martin, 24, spent his rookie season with Toledo (ECHL), netting eleven goals and 22 assists for 33 points in 32 games. Andrew was selected to play in the 2007 Rbk ECHL All-Star Game in Idaho, but missed the game due to injury. A four-year letterwinner at UMass-Lowell, Martin collected 100 points (39-61-100) in 126 collegiate games.
Howells, 23, closed out his four-year collegiate career at Michigan State in 2006-07. Tyler assisted on the game-winning goal in the NCAA championship game with 19 seconds remaining versus Boston College. He collected four goals and 22 assists for 26 points in 42 games for the Spartans last season and was selected to the All-Midwest Regional team and the All-Frozen Four teams.
"It was a good experience for these players to have spent time in the AHL camps," Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "The next step in their professional development is to reach that level. We hope that by working with them here and playing for the Cyclones that they will be ready when that opportunity arises."
Tickets for the 2007-08 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. Ticket packages start as low as $66, call the Cyclones at 513-421-PUCK (7825) for more details. The Cyclones home opener is on Friday, October 26 versus the Trenton Devils at U.S. Bank Arena.
