Idaho Falls Chukars News Release

HELENA, MT -- It was the Chukars first game at Helena since the 2013 championship winning performance. In 2014 at Kindrick Legion Field, neither team looked like title contenders. The Greybirds were able to score three unearned runs to scoot past the Brewers 3-1.

Idaho Falls (28-25, 8-7) got solid pitching throughout the night. It started with Sugar Ray Marimon's third rehab outing. The right-hander went 4.1 innings allowing only one run, on a home run by Sthervin Matos. Sugar Ray gave way to Austin Fairchild, who delivered one of his best outings in his two seasons with Idaho Falls. After walking two batters in the fifth, Fairchild (1-1) recovered to pitch the sixth and the seventh without allowing a hit or walk. Cruz Guevara allowed a hit in both the eighth and ninth, but was able to get out with his second save of the season.

The Chukars offense took advantage of Helena (19-35, 6-10) mistakes in the field. an error by first baseman Alan Sharkey cost the Brewers an out, which later allowed Wander Franco to score on a groundout. In the sixth with two outs, Michael Hill grounded a ball to Gregory Munoz. The second baseman let it roll past him, which scored the two go-ahead runs.

Idaho Falls made mistakes in the field as well. The Greybirds committed four more errors, making it 17 in the last five games. The Chukars have still won seven of their past nine games, improving to 14-8 against the North.

The Chukars continue their seven game road trip by playing game two of the three game series against the Helena Brewers tomorrow. Brooks Pounders is scheduled to pitch for Idaho Falls.
