Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, NE - As of today, you only have 228 shopping days until Christmas. If you need help getting into the Christmas spirit, circle Saturday, May 23rd on your calendar. That's when the Omaha Royals will hold "Christmas in July," 51 days before the calendar flips to July. The event is also being tabbed "The Miracle on 13th Street" because the team is partnering with the Salvation Army to raise money for that non-profit organization.

The Royals host the Sacramento Rivercats at 7:05 p.m. on the 23rd and when the Rosenblatt stadium gates open at 6:00 p.m. the first 500 fans will receive a free Christmas gift. Fans bringing a new, unopened toy for the Salvation Army's Toyland will get a free General Admission ticket to the game.

Salvation Army bell ringers will also be stationed outside the stadium gates collecting donations, with proceeds going to the organization's annual food drive.

To add to the "Christmas in July" theme, Santa will be on hand, as will carolers who are members of the Salvation Army choir. Also, a Christmas buffet will be served in the Stadium View Club beginning at 6:00 p.m., including smoked ham and turkey, green bean casserole and rice pudding.

"Who says Christmas only comes once a year?" asked Martie Cordaro, Royals Vice President/General Manager. "Our staff, impatient as they are, wanted the holidays to happen early - very early! They will not receive any off-time to spend with their families though. But, seriously it will be a fun night and helps a worthy cause."

Also on May 23rd, the first 1,000 fans through the stadium gates will receive a Royals clothes hamper, courtesy of NICF. For those of you "re-gifters" that means you can cross one friend or relative off your Christmas shopping list.

For tickets, call the Royals ticket office at (402) 738-5100, or order and print tickets online at www.oroyals.com and at www.Etix.com.
