
Las Vegas Sweeps Weekly Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Pacific Coast League today announced Brett Harper of the Las Vegas 51s has been named PCL Player of the Week and Fabio Castro of the 51s has been named PCL Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 4th-May10th.
Harper, a first baseman/designated hitter had a strong week at the dish after hitting at least one home run in four straight games and he finished the week with five home runs and ten RBI. The 27-year old Scottsdale, Arizona resident helped the 51s finish the week at 5-2. He was signed as a minor league free agent on February 16, 2009 by the Toronto Blue Jays.
In just his second start of the season, Castro tossed seven scoreless innings against the Fresno Grizzlies and allowed two hits, two walks, and struck out three batters. The bullpen prevented the 24-year old from earning his first victory of the season after they surrendered a six-run lead. The Montecristy, Dominican Republic native bounced back later in the week going six scoreless innings against the Sacramento River Cats to earn his first victory. He was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Philadelphia Phillies for Matt Stairs on August 29, 2008.
