Chris Kenady Returning To Ice Dogs

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that right wing Chris Kenady has agreed to terms to return to the team for the 2005-2006 season. He becomes the first player to announce his return to Long Beach, a city he calls home year round and has already played in for parts of four prior seasons.

Last season, Kenady finished third on the team in scoring with 32 goals and 32 assists in 71 games played, while also acquiring 88 penalty minutes. He finished a +13, and was first in the league in game winning goals (9), second in shooting percentage (18.4%), and 17th in overall points (64). In seven playoff games he finished second on the team with seven points (3 goals, 4 assists), a -3 and 4 penalty minutes. He was tied for first on the team with two power play goals.

"We're very happy to have Chris back", said Malcolm Cameron, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations. "He had an outstanding season last year and provided a tremendous offensive presence. He re-established himself as one of the premier power forwards in the league and we're happy to have him and his family back."

Besides last season, Kenady also played 95 games for the Ice Dogs in the WCHL from 2001-2003 (51 goals, 47 assists) as well as 19 games in the IHL during the 1998-99 season (1 goal, 6 assists). This year Kenady became the third all-time leading goal scorer in Ice Dogs history with 84, trailing only Hubie McDonough and Patrik Augusta. He also is tied for 5th all time in total points for the Ice Dogs with 169.
