Augusta Lynx News Release
In grateful acknowledgement of their community participation with Fort Gordon and the 73rd Ordnance Battalion's Rappel Team, the Augusta Lynx will receive a Certificate of Appreciation from Lieutenant Colonel Wade Sokolosky and Command Sergeant Major Cynthia Hughes at the team's office on Tuesday, June 14th at 11 am. All media are invited to attend.
The 73rd Ordnance Battalion Rappel Team has been descending from the rafters of the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center before every home game in Lynx history to present our nation's colors prior to faceoff. LTC Sokolosky is the Battalion's Commander, while CSM Hughes serves as Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Battalion Commander.
"It would be hard to imagine a Lynx game without the participation of the 73rd Ordnance Battalion Rappel Team and their presentation of the American flag," said Tom Callahan, Lynx director of broadcasting and public relations. "We're incredibly appreciative of their continuing involvement with the team, and we thank them and all of our soldiers for their service to the United States. The Lynx look forward to continuing this relationship for a very long time."
