South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC South Carolina Stingrays President Sean O'Connell announced today that Chris George has been promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the club. George is wrapping up his second year in the Rays front office as the Director of Marketing. His new post has been vacant since O'Connell was promoted to President of the Stingrays last spring.

"Chris was a natural fit for the position," commented O'Connell. "He has been a very valuable member of this franchise as Director of Marketing and shown an ability to excel in professional sports management."

George came to the Stingrays in the summer of 2001, following two seasons as the Director of Marketing for the Roanoke Express of the ECHL. He helped the Rays launch a new marketing campaign when he joined the team, which has helped the Stingrays show an increase at the box office.

"Chris's experience in selling and servicing season and group ticket packages, will help him in his transition to corporate sales," added O'Connell. "We are very pleased to be able to promote someone from within that is as deserving as Chris."

George began his career in marketing with the Erie Otters of the OHL after receiving a degree in Sports Management from West Virginia University. While with the Roanoke Express, he was instrumental in the development of the team's marketing strategies and was a key player on the season and group ticket sales staffs. The native of Erie, Pennsylvania now resides in West Ashley with his wife Kelly.

The Stingrays will play on the road on Friday in Greenville, before returning home to face the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday night. Saturday night is Comcast Dave Seitz Bobble Head Night. The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive Dave Seitz Bobble Head Dolls.
