Indiana Fever News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Getting an early start to their 2013 season, the Indiana Fever and San Antonio Silver Stars will battle one another in two preseason games, May 11 and May 15. Coincidentally, the Fever and Silver Stars also meet in a regular season opener in San Antonio, May 24.

When the Silver Stars visit Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday, May 15 (12:00 p.m.), it will be Education Day featuring Choices for Champions. Students will hear from successful leaders and role models including Fever star Tamika Catchings, Marion Co. Deputy Prosecutor Ryan Mears and representatives from Reach For Youth, Inc., who will present an interactive presentation including skits for the student audience. The Choices for Champions Educational Program begins at 9:45 a.m. and includes presentations on being a champion in health, fitness and education, and an anti-bullying message. The program is followed by a lunch break and concourse activities from 11:00 until tipoff.

An $8 group admission rate for school and student groups, while supplies last, includes a soft drink, chips, hot dog and a ticket to the game. For tickets and further details on this event, visit FeverBasketball.com or call (317) 917-2500.

The Fever opens the preseason schedule on Saturday, May 11 when it visits the Silver Stars at AT&T Center (2:00 p.m. ET). The Fever and each of 11 other teams in the Women's National Basketball Association open training camps for the 2013 season on Sunday, May 5.

A WNBA playoff participant in eight straight seasons and nine times since 2002, the Indiana Fever became the champion of women's basketball after defeating the Minnesota Lynx for the 2012 WNBA Championship. The Fever is the only team in WNBA history to record seven 20-win seasons during an 8-year span, a current streak that dates to 2005. During that time, the Fever has reached at least the Eastern Conference Finals five times while appearing in the WNBA Finals in 2009 and 2012. Indiana hosts its 2013 home opener on Friday, May 31 (7:00 p.m.) against the Atlanta Dream. For 2013 season ticket information, visit FeverBasketball.com or call (317) 917-2500.
