New York Liberty Release 2013 Preseason Schedule

NEW YORK, NY - March 19, 2013 - The New York Liberty will tip-off its 17th season in franchise history with preseason match-ups against Eastern Conference rivals the Connecticut Sun and Chicago Sky.

The Liberty will play back-to-back road exhibition games beginning on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. against the Connecticut Sun, followed by a trip to Chicago to face the Sky on Wednesday, May 15 at 11:30 a.m. Exhibition play concludes on Saturday, May 18 at 4 p.m. at Prudential Center against the Sun.

Additionally, start times for two regular season games have been altered. The June 5 game against the Indiana Fever will now start at 11 a.m., and the Aug. 10 game against the Los Angeles Sparks will begin at 1 p.m.

New York, led by perennial All-Star Cappie Pondexter, will open the regular season against the Sun on Saturday, May 25 at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena. The team will play its home opener at Prudential Center on May 31 at 7:30 p.m. against the Tulsa Shock. Bill Laimbeer makes his return to the WNBA in his first season as head coach and general manager of the Liberty. In eight seasons with the Detroit Shock, Laimbeer led the team to six-straight playoff appearances, including three WNBA Championships (2003, 2006, 2008), and was named 2003 WNBA Coach of the Year.

This will mark the final season that the Liberty will call the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ home. Phase III of the three-year, top-to-bottom Transformation of Madison Square Garden will be completed in fall 2013 and the Liberty will return to The Garden for the 2014 season. Prudential Center is a convenient 15 minutes away from The Garden by train.
