Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, July 10, 2008) - After more than 20 years as a professional soccer player, Chivas USA's legendary Mexican defender will present his official biography, "The Story of a Warrior," at a press conference this Saturday, July 12, at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
The biography of "The Emperor," which contains photographs and stories gathered over the course of two years by both Claudio Suárez and the well-known author Enrique León Candiani. Showing the dedication and determination of the Chivas USA central defender, the book documents the story of Suárez, who has won championships in the Mexican First Division, participated in World Cups, and made more appearances with the Mexican National Team than any other player in history.
As part of the celebratory "Year of the Emperor," Chivas USA and Claudio Suárez will be presenting "The Story of a Warrior" at a press conference in the Television Studio at The Home Depot Center at 2:00 p.m., immediately after Chivas USA trains on the main Stadium Field.
"The Story of a Warrior," which is already available in select locations, will be soon on sale nationally at fine bookstores across the United States. The first 500 people to purchase a copy of the book will receive access to a special autograph session with Claudio Suárez after Chivas USA's match against Pachuca in the SuperLiga on Sunday, June 13, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.
With a million-dollar first prize and the possibility of facing parent club Chivas de Guadalajara, Chivas USA makes its official international debut in the 2008 SuperLiga, facing defending champion Pachuca this Sunday, July 13, at 7:00 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. The Red-and-White are in a difficult Group B that includes Pachuca, as well as the current Mexican First Division champions Santos Laguna, and the New England Revolution, last year's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup winners. The SuperLiga 2008 is the second annual competition between top clubs from the United States and Mexico.
