MLS Disciplinary Committee Suspends and Fines Real Salt Lake Head Coach Jason Kreis

NEW YORK (July 10, 2008) - The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee today suspended Real Salt Lake Head Coach Jason Kreis two (2) games and fined him $2,000 for public criticism of MLS officiating.

Following Real Salt Lake's game versus the Houston Dynamo on July 3, Kreis made comments of a critical nature toward MLS officials, which appeared in the Deseret Morning News and the Salt Lake Tribune on Friday, July 4.

The suspension will be served on Saturday, July 12 (Columbus Crew at Real Salt Lake) and Saturday, July 19 (Real Salt Lake at Chicago Fire).

On May 8, Kreis was suspended one game and fined $1,000 for comments he made about MLS officials following his team's game against the Los Angeles Galaxy on May 3.

Any coach serving a game suspension may enter his team's locker room prior to and during half-time as well post-game. The coach may not, however, appear on field level at any time on game day. He may not sit in the Press Box or grandstands. The coach shall be seated in a private suite or team-provided reserved section.

As one of the League's official Charities of Choice, the US Soccer Foundation is the recipient of all player fines at the end of each season. Those fines are added to the Foundation's Annual Grants Pool from which the Board of Directors awards grants to soccer clubs and organizations that serve economically disadvantaged children in urban areas.
