Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release
CARSON, Calif. (Monday, December 5, 2005) - Chivas USA players will have their last week of training of the post season before taking their vacation, their last day being Friday, December 9. The Red-and-White will return to The Home Depot Center and resume training on the first week of February 2006 and will start preparations for its second season in the MLS.
WORLD CUP DRAW VIEWING PARTY: Chivas USA cordially invites all members of the media and soccer fans to come and view the live broadcast of the Draw for the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 that will be played between June 9 and July 9, 2006. The draw will be originated from Leipzig, Germany and will place the last 32 finalist in eight groups of four. The event will be broadcast worldwide at 11:00 a.m. PT. TOURNAMENT OF FUTURE STARS: Chivas USA will hold a player development tournament at Cal Poly Pomona University, âTorneo de Futuras Estrellas' (Tournament of Future Stars), on December 10 and 11. The tournament will provide U-19 players the opportunity to be evaluated by Chivas USA's coaching staff. A number of players will be singled out as the âstars' of the tournament and will receive a special invitation to participate in a private training session at The Home Depot Center with the possibility of becoming part of Chivas USA's player development program.
âLIFT UP AMERICA': Chivas USA players Francisco Gómez, Rodrigo López, Martin ZúñÃga and Antonio MartÃnez will participate in a donation event to benefit those less fortunate in the Los Angeles area, who will receive gifts of food, sight and hope this holiday season thanks to the generosity of several major corporations as well as players from the Los Angeles Kings and Club Deportivo Chivas USA. The athletes will be on hand to assist with distributions. Organized by âLift Up America', a donation event distributing free products from Tyson Foods, LensCrafters, Pearle Vision and Ty, is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. outside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Lot 4 at the corner of Martin Luther King and Hoover Ave.
CHIVAS FUTBOL ACADEMY: The Chivas Futbol Academy continues its training sessions at The Home Depot Center this week in preparation for this weekend's slate of games in Baldwin Park, with sessions at The Home Depot Center's Field 5 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday. Chivas USA will soon be announcing the future installation of a Chivas Futbol Academy in San Bernardino. MINI-CHIVAGIRLS: The ChivaGirls are offering a clinic for Mini-ChivaGirls, where young women from 3 to 15 years old will be taught to dance and perform cheering routines. The classes will be held Wednesday and Friday afternoons at The Home Depot Center, with a cost of $50 per month, plus uniform costs. Participants will have a chance to take the field with the ChivaGirls during select Chivas USA home games, and will also be able to dance on the ChivaTown stage during halftime.
