CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008) - Chivas USA today waived defender Alex Zotinca. A six-year veteran of Major League Soccer, Zotinca played four matches (all as a starter) for Chivas USA in 2008 after recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery on his right knee due to an injury suffered in preseason.

"We appreciate all Alex has given this club in the last two years," said Chivas USA Head Coach Preki. "We wish him the best of luck in his career moving forward."

Chivas USA signed Zotinca on February 23, 2007, after acquiring his rights in a trade with the Kansas City Wizards. Born on January 22, 1977 in Sibiu, Romania, Zotinca has played 111 matches in MLS (starting 86), scoring three goals and adding five assists in four seasons with the Wizards and two with Chivas USA.

Chivas USA broke camp last week and will return to training in late January ahead of the 2009 Major League Soccer season, which is scheduled to kick off on March 21. A full calendar of matches, as well as Chivas USA's SuperLiga 2009 schedule, will be released next year. Chivas USA's 18-game Season Seat Package, starting at just $180, is on sale now via 1-877-CHIVAS-1 and cdchivasusa.com.
