
Rapids Waive Defenders Mike Petke and Tim Ward

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (Wednesday, November 26, 2008) - The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has waived defenders Mike Petke and Tim Ward.
Petke played four seasons with Colorado and after overcoming injury at beginning of the 2008 season, started 10 of the Rapids last 11 matches of the year. With the Rapids, he appeared in 80 games with 79 starts and recorded three goals. He returns to New York where he is the Red Bulls' all-time leader in games played, games started and minutes from his time with the club from 1998-2002.
Ward, who was traded to the Rapids from the Columbus Crew in February, appeared in 11 Reserve Division matches this season. He played in 761 minutes and tallied eight starts for the Rapids Reserve side.
