CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, July 17, 2008) - Ahead of Sunday's decisive SuperLiga Group B match against the New England Revolution, Chivas USA, led by Beijing-bound U.S. Olympian Sacha Kljestan of Huntington Beach, Calif., Mexican national team legend Claudio Suárez and MLS Original Ante Razov, will hold a final practice session at Titan Stadium on the campus of Cal State Fullerton this Saturday, July 19 at 12:30 p.m. PT.
A semifinal berth and a shot at a million dollars are on the line as Chivas USA plays its first official match in Orange County, versus the New England Revolution, this Sunday, July 20 at 5:00 p.m. PT at Titan Stadium. Tickets, starting at just $15, are available by calling 1-877-CHIVAS-1 or visiting www.cdchivasusa.com, as well as at the Titan Stadium box office on gameday.
The New England Revolution arrives in Southern California on Friday and is scheduled to train on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. PT on The Home Depot Center's Field 6. Both teams emerged victorious on Matchday 2 of SuperLiga, earning 1-0 wins over their Mexican opponents to set up a decisive third game in Group B action. In the other game Sunday, Mexican champion Santos Laguna takes on reigning SuperLiga champion Pachuca CF in Frisco, Tex.
SuperLiga 2008 is the second annual tournament pitting eight top professional soccer clubs from the Mexican First Division and the U.S.'s Major League Soccer against each other for regional bragging rights and a million dollar winner's prize. Chivas USA look to emerge from a tough Group B - featuring SuperLiga 2007 champion Pachuca, reigning Mexican champion Santos Laguna and U.S. Open Cup champion New England Revolution - and advance to the semifinal round, starting July 29, including a potential matchup against parent club Chivas de Guadalajara.
