CARSON, Calif. (Friday, June 26, 2009) - Chivas USA needs a big victory over Mexico's San Luis in its final group stage game of SuperLiga 2009 this Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center. In order to advance to the tournament semifinals out of Group A, the Red-and-White need to beat San Luis by at least two goals, coupled with a Chicago Fire win by any scoreline vs. Tigres UANL in a match also to be played on Saturday night.
Featuring stars including Braulio Luna and Orange, Calif. native Michael Orozco, San Luis lost to Chicago in its first match of SuperLiga before beating Tigres 3-1 on Tuesday. Chivas USA, without the services of Jonathan Bornstein and Sacha Kljestan who are currently with the U.S. National Team at the Confederations Cup in South Africa, dropped a tight match at home last Saturday to Tigres by a 2-1 score, then fell to Chicago 1-0 on Tuesday.
