
Chivas USA hosts New England Revolution on September 13 in crucial match

CHIVAS USA HOSTS NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION IN CRUCIAL MATCH ON SEPT. 13: Chivas USA enters the stretch run of the season looking for a spot in the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season, and the team begins its quest for the postseason when it hosts the New England Revolution on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12:00 noon PT. The Red-and-White currently hold a 10-9-3 record, good for 33 points, and are tied for fourth place in the Western Conference with Colorado and Real Salt Lake. The game against the Revolution, who also have 33 points (9-6-6), holds playoff implications for both teams and will be a rematch of the July 19 match, which the Revolution won at home by a score of 2-0. A special "Family Pack" is available for the game, which gives fans four tickets, four hats, and four hotdogs starting at just $58. CHIVAS USA AND CHIVAS DE GUADALAJARA IN THE SEPT. 23 'CHIVACLÃSICO' AT THE ROSE BOWL: Chivas USA and Chivas de Guadalajara will face off for the first time ever in the United States on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 8:00 p.m. PT at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif. The 'ChivaClásico' is part of Guadalajara's 2009 U.S. tour, and tickets for the Sept. 23 game are now on sale, with advance prices starting at $20 for General Admission, $30 for Reserved, and $40 for Preferred. Ticket prices go up by $5 on the day of the game, so purchasing tickets in advance is encouraged. JONATHAN BORNSTEIN WITH U.S. NATIONAL TEAM FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS: Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein, a three-time MLS All-Star and United States National Team regular, has been called into the U.S. National Team for upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Bornstein is currently with the squad in Park City, Utah, where the team is preparing for its Sept. 5 match against El Salvador in Sandy, Utah. After the match, the U.S. will travel to Trinidad & Tobago for a game on Sept. 9. The U.S. currently sits in third place in the final round hexagonal, collecting 10 points and a 3-2-1 record through six games. The top three teams automatically advance to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, while the fourth place team will participate in a two-leg playoff against the fifth place team from South America.

YAMITH CUESTA DEBUTS FOR THE RED-AND-WHITE IN HONDA SUPER CLÃSICO: Colombian Under-20 National Team defender Yamith Cuesta, acquired on loan by Chivas USA, made his debut for the Red-and-White in the 1-0 Honda Super Clásico loss to the LA Galaxy on Sunday. Cuesta played well in central defense as the team gave up just one goal, a late strike by Galaxy midfielder David Beckham. Chivas USA played the Galaxy to an even game but could not find the net, while goalkeeper Lance Parker made four saves for the Red-and-White. With the win, the Galaxy captured the Honda Super Clásico trophy for the second consecutive season.

GUADALAJARA UPDATE: Chivas de Guadalajara earned a 2-2 draw with Pachuca on Saturday, bringing the team's record to 1-3-1 in the Apertura 2009 season. Chivas took a 1-0 lead in the match through a Héctor Reynoso goal, but gave up two unanswered before Omar Bravo's 77th-minute penalty earned the team a point.
