Chihuahuas Suffer 5-3 Loss

El Paso starter Anderson Espinoza pitched seven shutout innings in the Chihuahuas' 5-3 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes Saturday night. Espinoza didn't allow any hits until there was one out in the seventh inning. It was the second time in his last four starts that Espinoza pitched seven innings and didn't allow any earned runs.

The Chihuahuas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth on Brandon Dixon's RBI single before Albuquerque scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single by Hunter Stovall and a grand slam by Roman Quinn. It was the fifth grand slam allowed by the Chihuahuas this season.

El Paso's other two runs came on a two-run double by Ray-Patrick Didder in the ninth inning. Tim Lopes and Tirso Ornelas both had two hits for the Chihuahuas Saturday. El Paso second baseman Matthew Batten was ejected in the top of the eighth inning. The Isotopes have won three of the first five games of the series.
