El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas lost on Friday for the first time since August 12, falling to the Memphis Redbirds 7-0. Redbirds' starter Marco Gonzales pitched five shutout innings to get the win. It was the third time this season El Paso was held without a run.

Memphis plated six runs in the bottom of the third, all with two outs. The 11-batter inning brought home the second-most runs the Redbirds have scored in a single inning this year. Neither team scored in the final six innings of the game.

Jake Goebbert went 2-for-4 atop El Paso's order and is 11-for-23 on the current Tennessee road trip to push his season average above .300. Memphis manager Mike Shildt was ejected in the bottom of the first inning after arguing an interference call that gave the Chihuahuas an inning-ending double play.

Tayron Guerrero and Jerry Sullivan both threw multiple-inning scoreless relief outings in Friday's loss.
