Syracuse Mets News Release
Tuesday's game between the Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees was suspended due to rain after four innings. The game will be resumed Saturday as part of a doubleheader at Alliance Bank Stadium beginning at 4:00 PM. After the completion of the suspended game, the teams will play a seven-inning affair.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre led the game 2-0 when the game was suspended. The Yankees scored both of their runs in the top of the fourth against Chiefs starter Mitch Atkins. A Colin Curtis sacrifice fly to right field drove in Dewayne Wise to start the scoring. Wise then came home on a double by shortstop Doug Bernier. Both runs, however, were unearned after Syracuse leftfielder Corey Brown misplayed a fly ball off the bat of third baseman Brandon Laird.
The Chiefs had just one hit - a Mark Teahen single - in the first four innings.
Syracuse plays on the road for the first time in 2012 Wednesday night at 7:05 PM against Lehigh Valley. Tanner Roark is expected to start for the Chiefs against Austin Hyatt of the IronPigs.
Fans who purchased tickets for Tuesday's game can redeem their ticket at the Chiefs ticket office for a ticket of equal or lesser value for any Chiefs home game within one year from the date of the rainout. Season ticket holders and suite holders should refer to the back of their tickets for the season ticket and suite policy.
