Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Chiefs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, came away with an 8-6 win over the Indianapolis Indians Friday night at Alliance Bank Stadium. The win snaps a season-high nine-game losing streak for the Chiefs.

Syracuse starter Jeff Mandel let in a first-inning run to give Indianapolis the early lead. With one out and leadoff hitter Jim Negrych on third, Indians centerfielder Alex Presley hit a grounder to Seth Bynum at short. Bynum couldn't handle it, letting the ball trickle into the outfield and allowing Negrych to score from third. The error was one of three on the night for Bynum and four overall for the Chiefs. Before tonight's game, Bynum had three errors all season.

Syracuse (55-52) responded with three runs in the bottom of the second off of Indianapolis starter Brad Lincoln. Jason Botts and Pete Orr collected a pair of singles and Luis Ordaz made it to first on Jeff Clement's missed catch, loading the bases with one out for Carlos Maldonado. Maldonado cranked a long double to centerfield, allowing all three base runners to score.

After Indianapolis (56-52) grabbed a run in the sixth to tie it at four, the Chiefs used a 40-pitch, nine-batter seventh inning to pull ahead 8-4. Orr singled up the middle and Ordaz poked a broken-bat single into left to begin the frame. Maldonado bunted Orr and Ordaz over to third, putting two runners in scoring position with one out. Two batters after Kevin Mench's sac fly gave Syracuse the lead, Justin Maxwell lined a bullet to center. Boomer Whiting, who singled and stole second, sprinted home with the Chiefs' sixth run. Maxwell stole second and third and was awarded home plate on a balk, extending the Syracuse lead to three. The Chiefs were five for six on stolen base attempts in the game.

Despite blowing the save, Jason Bergmann picked up his third victory for Syracuse. He gave up one hit and one unearned run in his two innings of work. Adam Carr tossed a perfect ninth for his first save with the Chiefs.

Daniel Moskos fell to 0-3 with the loss. The Indianapolis reliever lasted two thirds of an inning, giving up two hits and two runs.

Saturday the Chiefs will head to Pennsylvania to begin a two game series with the IL North-leading Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. Syracuse's Erik Arnesen (3-6, 4.37) will pitch against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Tim Redding (6-4, 2.62) in the series opener. First pitch will be at 7:05.
