WAHL SIGNS WITH CALGARY

Spokane Chief forward Mitch Wahl has signed a three-year-entry contract with the Calgary Flames. Wahl was a second-round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and registered 32 goals and 67 points last season with Spokane, both second on the team. The 19-year-old is back in a Chiefs' sweater for his fourth season and has two goals and six points in five games this year. Wahl is also a +4.

Last year, Wahl had a +42 and nine game winning goals, which was third in the WHL, which both led the Chiefs. Wahl currently has 124 career assists, 23rd all-time in franchise history, and 194 career points, 21st all-time. The Seal Beach, California native also played for the United States at the 2009 World Junior Hockey Championships in their fifth place finish. Wahl finished the tournament with one goal and four points. At the 2008 Memorial Cup, Wahl was named to the tournament All-Star Team after scoring two goals and six points. Wahl has played 206 career games in Spokane.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9TH vs. PRINCE ALBERT

Kids Night presented by Savageland Pizza -

Friday night, the kids are running the show. Savageland Pizza is teaming up with the Spokane Chiefs to present Kids Night on Friday, October 9th when the Prince Albert Raiders visit the Spokane Arena. Children are encouraged to visit Savageland Pizza prior to Thursday to sign up for their chance to participate.

The Chiefs will host the Raiders for the first time since January 26th, 2008, a 4-2 Chiefs win. Levko Koper and Tyler Johnson each had goals for the Chiefs as only six penalty minutes were issued, two to Spokane and four to Prince Albert. Last year, the Chiefs traveled to Prince Albert on November 14th and picked up a 3-2 win. Ryan Letts and Mitch Wahl had goals for Spokane. The Chiefs are 11-9 with one tie versus the Raiders since the 1995-96 season.

Kids will play an important role at the Chiefs game as they will assist the Spokane Chiefs staff all game long. Kids will assist the P.A announcer, promotion team, ticket staff, guest services, and more.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH vs. SEATTLE

25th Anniversary Voting Kick-Off

As a part of the Chiefs 25th anniversary season, the fans will have the chance to help select the top 25 Chiefs of all-time through a three-month voting process. The first chance to select the top Chiefs of all-time will begin on Saturday, October 10th when Spokane hosts the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:00 in the Spokane Arena. The Chiefs will also be wearing 25th anniversary patches on their home and away jerseys for the remainder of the season.

Starting early next week fans will also have the chance to go online at www.spokanechiefs.com and vote.

During the months of October-December fans will be able to vote for their top 25 Chiefs and later during the season the Chiefs will reveal the top 25 during an on ice presentation.

SCHEDULE CHANGE

The Spokane Chiefs have announced that two road games have been re-scheduled in January to help the city of Kamloops accommodate the 2010 Winter Olympic Torch Relay on January 27th at 7:00pm.

The Chiefs will now be playing in Kamloops on Tuesday, January 26th (originally scheduled for January 27th) and in Chilliwack on Wednesday, January 27th (originally scheduled for January 26th).

The Western Hockey League has approved the game changes in cooperation with the Kamloops Blazers, Chilliwack Bruins and Spokane Chiefs.
