Blades Swap Forwards with Chilliwack

The Saskatoon Blades acquired forward Randy McNaught from the Chilliwack Bruins in exchange for forward Jamie Crooks and a conditional draft pick in a trade announced on Tuesday.

McNaught, a 19-year-old, has played in 6 regular season games this season, going pointless while adding 32 penalty minutes. The right winger played in 51 games last season scoring 5 times and assisting on 4 others for 9 points and added 78 penalty minutes. A native of Nanaimo, BC, McNaught was acquired by the Bruins from the Portland Winterhawks prior to the 2005 WHL Expansion Draft. The 6'5", 221-pounder was originally taken by the Winterhawks in the 9th round (171st overall) of the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Blades send to Chilliwack the 17-year-old Crooks, who was taken by the Blades in 9th round (181st overall) of the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft. The 5'10", 186-pounder has played in 6 games this season, going pointless and adding 2 penalty minutes. The left winger got into 8 games last season with the Blades scoring once and adding 3 assists for 4 points. The native of Vegreville, Alberta won the Alberta Midget Hockey League scoring title in 2008-09 with 39 goals and 32 assists for 71 points in 33 games played while adding 75 penalty minutes.

"Randy is a big, strong guy who will add a dimension to our lineup that we have been looking to address," commented Blades General Manager and Head Coach Lorne Molleken. "While with Jamie, he is a young guy that has a ton of potential and we wish him the best in Chilliwack."
