Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE dropped their first game of the season, 7-4, to the visiting Spokane Chiefs on Friday night.

This was the first of two meetings in a home-and-home series against the Chiefs.

Brett Davis potted two goals while Peyton Krebs and Dallas Hines collected two assists each. Rookie defenceman Nolan Orzeck scored his first career WHL goal. Duncan McGovern stopped 25-of-30 shots between the pipes for the ICE.
