Chiefs Sign Rookie Defenseman and Goaltender

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today that they have signed rookie defenseman David Bowman and goaltender David Cann.

Bowman, 21, spent the last four seasons with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League. Last season he was ninth among OHL defensemen with 14 goals and 43 points in 68 games. In 265 career games with the Spitfires, Bowman had 38 goals and 123 points.

Last season, the 5'11, 205 LBS native of St. Catherines, Ontario was named Windsor's Most Valuable Player, Outstanding defenseman and alternate captain. He was also nominated for the Les Lalonde Memorial trophy which is presented to the OHL's overage player of the year.

Cann, 22, has spent the last four years at Colgate University. Last season, Cann was 4-3-1 with a 2.57 GAA and a 0.898 save percentage in ten games. In 76 career games with the Raiders, Cann was 23-33-5 with a 2.80 GAA and a 0.897 save percentage. He received the 2003-04 Colgate Coaches Award.

Prior to attending Colgate, the 6'1, 195 LBS native of Brampton, Ontario played junior hockey for the Mississauga Chargers of the Ontario Provincial Hockey League.

Season ticket packages and flex plans are now available by calling the Chiefs office at (814) 539-1799 or 1-800-SLAPSHOT. Opening night is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd when the Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers at 7:00 p.m.
