Spokane Chiefs News Release
Everett, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs picked up a point on the road Saturday night, but continued their losing streak as the Everett Silvertips came away with the 2-1 shootout victory.
In the second of back-to-back matchups between the two teams, it was the Chiefs who opened the scoring at 7:11 when Carter Streek connected with defenseman Brayden Crampton, who swept the puck down the right wing and fired it into the twine for his second goal of the season. Rookie Tommaso De Luca also earned an assist on the play.
It was another close defensive battle throughout the game, as the Chiefs managed to kill off all but one of Everett's six power play chances, with the game-tying goal coming from Jackson Berezowski at 7:08 in the third period.
More strong defensive efforts alongside spectacular saves on both ends of the ice pushed the game into overtime, and eventually into a shootout.
Spokane sent out Chase Bertholet, Kooper Gizowski and Cade Hayes, but none were able to best rookie Tim Metzger. Austin Roest wound up with the game-winner for Everett in the second round of the shootout.
Cooper Michaluk kept the Chiefs in the game throughout his 65 minutes in net, putting up 36 saves on 37 Silvertip shots including a perfect 24 through the first two frames.
Up next, the Chiefs will head home to take on the Portland Winterhawks Wednesday night.
