Owen Pederson scored two goals in the first period as the Winnipeg ICE opened up a 5-0 lead on their way to a 7-1 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings Saturday night at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
Conor Geekie, Connor McClennon, Carson Lambos, Zach Benson and Matthew Savoie rounded out the attack as the ICE improved their record to 40-7-1.
Mason Finley had the lone goal for Edmonton 5:10 into the third period to end the shutout bid for winning goaltender Mason Beaupit.
Winnipeg outshot the Oil Kings 41-27. Edmonton's Logan Cunningham allowed five goals on 17 shots in the opening period. Kolby Hay came in relief to stop 22 of 24 over the final 40 minutes.
The ICE wrap up their four game homestand Wednesday at 7:00 against the Swift Current Broncos at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
