Spokane Chiefs News Release
Not many things make New Year's Eve celebrations an afterthought but the Spokane Chiefs and Tri-City Americans will do just that tonight when they ring in 2008 with their annual December 31st game. The Chiefs and Americans are two of the top teams in the Western Hockey League, number two and three in the most recent CHL Top 10 poll, and first and third in the Western Conference and the tradition happens to be one of the 12 meetings of the year between the two.
Mike Boyle will call the game on KJRB 790 the Fan with Comcast Hockey Tonight beginning at 6:30.
The visiting team has won the last two games with Spokane traveling down to Kennewick on November 12th and earning a 5-3 victory and the Americans skating to a 4-1 triumph in the Spokane Arena on December 15th.
Monday night's game will be the 18th time in as many seasons that the two have met on New Year's Eve. The Chiefs earned a 4-3 shootout win last year with Ondrej Roman, Drayson Bowman and Judd Blackwater each scoring for Spokane. The win was the fourth in the last seven years for Spokane in Kennewick on New Year's Eve.
After the Chiefs return home on Friday, January 4th against the Moose Jaw Warriors, Spokane will travel back to Tri-City on Saturday, January 5th to take on the Americans. Spokane and Tri-City will also skate in the Spokane Arena on January 12th for their third meeting in 13 days.
