Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs host the Everett Silvertips Wednesday in the third match-up of the season between the clubs. Last time the teams faced each other, Everett came away with an 8-3 victory over the Chiefs. The game featured two-point nights from both Ty Cheveldayoff (2G) and Tommaso De Luca (2A).
Chiefs rookies Berkly Catton and De Luca have been making a splash in their first year in the league, with De Luca ranked fifth (12-16-28) among WHL rookies and Catton ranked right behind him at sixth (10-16-26). They are both tied for fifth in assists among the league's rookies with 16 apiece, while De Luca is ranked fourth in goals with 12. Catton recently had a five-game point streak from December 27-January 6, during which he scored a goal in four-straight games.
A few other Chiefs have been heating up on the ice lately, including 20-year-old defenseman Mac Gross, who has six points in the last five games after posting three two-point nights (1G-5A). Fellow overage player Cade Hayes is on a three-game point streak, with 1G-2A in the last three contests. 2003-born winger Ty Cheveldayoff has four points in the last five games (1G-3A) and is already just seven points shy of doubling his season total from last year.
Manitoba native Chase Bertholet is averaging 1.14 points per game and has 13 points in the last 10 games (7G-6A), with goals in the last three-straight. He leads the team with 16 goals and 25 assists.
