Chiefs Face Giants in 2nd Round

In a match-up of the last two Memorial Cup Champions, the Spokane Chiefs will face the Vancouver Giants in the second round of the WHL Playoffs. The Chiefs, the 2008 Champions, will host games three and four of the series on Tuesday, April 7th and Wednesday, April 8th at 7:00 in the Spokane Arena.

Tickets are currently on sale at the Chiefs office by calling (509) 535-PUCK or through TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.

The Giants, winners of the 2007 Memorial Cup, will host games one and two on Friday, April 3rd at 7:30 and Saturday, April 4th at 7:00, respectively. Mike Boyle will go on the air a half-an-hour before each opening face-off with Comcast Hockey Tonight on 1510 KGA.

It will be the second straight year the two have met in the post-season as Spokane eliminated the Giants in a six game second round last season. Dustin Tokarski had a 1.67 goals against average and a .934 save percentage and one shutout in the series. Ondrej Roman had two goals and eight points in six games.

The Giants will also host a potential game five on Friday, April 10th with the series returning to Spokane for game six on Sunday, April 12th. If necessary, game seven would be played back in Vancouver on Tuesday, April 14th.

Spokane used a 5-3 win on Saturday night in the Spokane Arena in game five versus Seattle to defeat the Thunderbirds in the first round. The Chiefs won the last three games of the series. Drayson Bowman had five goals and seven points and Levko Koper finished the series with two goals and seven points. The Chiefs finished the regular season as the number four seed out of the Western Conference. Vancouver swept the Prince George Cougars in the first round and ended the regular season with the Western Conference's best record and 119 points.
