Syracuse Mets News Release
Columbus, OH - The Syracuse Chiefs dropped the second game of their series with the Columbus Clippers, 2-0, Friday night at Huntington Park. The Chiefs pitching combination of David Goforth, Austen Williams and Austin Adams held the Clippers to four hits, but it was not enough as the Chiefs have now dropped the first two games of the series.
Columbus (67-57) started the scoring in the second. Bobby Bradley hit a solo home run over the left-field fence off Goforth to give the Clippers a 1-0 lead.
The Clippers added their other run in the fifth. Brandon Barnes doubled home Oscar Mercado, who had doubled, to extend the lead to two. It was the first run scored against Austen Williams this year in Triple-A, in his ninth inning of work.
Syracuse (53-71) was held to just two hits in the game against the combination of Stephen Fife, Myles Jaye, Henry Martinez and Ben Taylor.
The Chiefs and Clippers continue their series Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. RHP Kyle McGowin is scheduled to start for Syracuse against RHP Josh Tomlin for Columbus.
