Spokane Chiefs News Release
Saturday night's Chiefs game at Tri-City will be aired live in Spokane on Comcast channel 78 beginning at 7:00. Spokane sits four points on top of the Americans for first place in the U.S. Division.
The game will be the first time that Spokane has traveled to Kennewick since last year's game seven of the Western Conference Championship series. Spokane earned a 4-1 win in the game and advanced to the WHL Finals, eventually winning the Ed Chynoweth Cup as champions of the league, and the Memorial Cup.
In their first meeting this season, the Chiefs shutout the Americans 4-0 on September 27th, the Chiefs home opener, as Dustin Tokarski stopped 31 shots. Mitch Wahl, Mike Reddington, Levko Koper and Seth Compton all had goals for Spokane.
Last year's playoff series was an extension of the regular season the two enjoyed. The Americans edged Spokane by a point for the top record in the League, eventually winning the Scotty Munro trophy and U.S. Division. In 12 games against each other, Tri-City bettered Spokane 14 points to 13. In the playoffs, five of the games went into overtime, three of them into double overtime. Through 20 years of the rivalry, the Chiefs lead the series 119-106-1-4 with 13 ties.
Mike Boyle will also go on the air at 6:30 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on 1510 KGA. The game will also be made available "On Demand" on Comcast.
