The Kootenay Ice scored four times in the second period en route to a 6-3 win over the visiting Chilliwack Bruins Saturday night. It was the third straight loss for the Bruins who see their record fall to 5-5-1-1.
Defenceman John Negrin led the way offensively for the Ice with a goal and two assists. Ryan Howse scored once in each period for the Bruins to notch his first WHL hat trick.
Goaltender Nathan Lieuwen made 15 saves to earn the victory for the Ice. Mark Friesen, who was pulled in favor of Lucas Gore after allowing four goals on 25 shots took the loss in goal for Chilliwack.
The Ice outshot the Bruins 50-18.
Kootenay was 1/5 on the powerplay and added two shorthanded goals. Chilliwack was 0/4 with the man advantage.
The Bruins return to action Wednesday night when they host the Kelowna Rockets.
