CHICAGO, April 18, 2011 - Beginning in 2011, the Chicago Sky will hold team practices at Sachs Recreation Center in Deerfield, Illinois, Sky President Adam Fox announced today.

Deerfield Park District's Sachs Recreation Center, the former Deerfield Multiplex, is a newly renovated near 100,000 square foot complex with state-of-the-art amenities. It is also the home of the "Bulls Gym," the former practice court of the Jordan-era Chicago Bulls, which the Sky will now make their own.

The popular gym, designed for a professional basketball experience, is equipped with a "soft" wall that can be lowered to provide privacy for Sky practices when needed.

"All of the things our coaches felt were vital to the team from a first class facility to high quality staff, we found at Sachs," said Fox. "This move shows a lot about the Sky's commitment to player development and creating an atmosphere of professionalism and success."

Sachs will become the second home to the Sky, enabling the players and coaches to watch game film, exercise or relax, and take full advantage of the many amenities the facility has to offer from swimming to towel service.

Besides its historic significance, the Sachs Recreation Center, following its $11 million renovation, features two additional hardwood floor basketball courts, a four-lane track with elevated turns, free weight and strength resistance equipment, cardio training equipment, a four-lane 20-yard lap pool, whirlpool, steam room, sauna and large well-appointed locker rooms.

"We are thrilled to have the Chicago Sky consider our Sachs Recreation Center their 'second home,'" said Deerfield Park District's Director of Leisure Services Linda Anderson. "Having a professional women's basketball program with the caliber of the Sky practice in our facility affords potential for all kinds of positive outcomes. We look forward to a long and productive relationship where Chicago Sky players and coaches can share their skills and professional work and practice ethic through programs and clinics offered to youth in our area. Likewise, we believe the Chicago Sky will find a welcoming atmosphere and expanded fan base as they share space in our community."

Open to the public for everything from tennis to Taekwondo, the Sachs Recreation Center is a valuable resource for Deerfield and the surrounding communities. It serves the district's 18,000 residents, neighboring community residents, and employees at local businesses and corporations. The recreation center recently earned the Illinois Park and Recreation Association's Outstanding Facility Award, which was presented to the Deerfield Park District in January 2010.
