Chicago Red Stars to Host Family Fan Fest at Gallagher Way
May 7, 2024 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Chicago Stars FC News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Red Stars are hosting a family fan fest at Gallagher Way, outside of Wrigley Field, ahead of the club's match Saturday, June 8, against Bay FC. Fans, family, friends and the general public are invited to kick off and celebrate the historic day beginning at 10 a.m. CT.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend the fan fest and participate in activities and entertainment for the entire family. Attendees can flex their soccer abilities with a skills challenge, get their photos taken with the Red Stars' biggest fan, Supernova, make bracelets, get their faces painted, and gear up for the match with Red Stars and event merchandise available for purchase. Attendees will also take part in contests and Red Stars-themed giveaways.
Following the fan fest, the Chicago Red Stars will play a historic match against Bay FC kicking off at 6:30 p.m. CT June 8. The 'Red Stars Take Over Wrigley Field' match is the first-ever National Women's Soccer League match held at the iconic Friendly Confines and the first professional women's sporting event to take place in the ballpark in more than 80 years.
Following record-breaking ticket sales in the first 90 minutes of public on-sale alone for the 'Red Stars Take Over Wrigley Field' match, the Red Stars launched the club's 'Witness History: Take Me Out to the Ball Game' campaign. The campaign looks to increase awareness of the historic match, recognize the influential contributions of past and present women in sports and push towards breaking the NWSL single-match attendance record. The June 8 match at Wrigley Field would also mark the highest attended Red Stars match in club history and will serve as a marker for what women's professional sports can do when equipped with equitable and accessible resources.
More information on the Red Stars fan fest at Gallagher Way and other events leading up to the match at Wrigley Field will be made available in the coming weeks. To be a part of history and help break the NWSL single-match attendance record, visit chicagoredstars.com/tickets.
