HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - The Chicago Mustangs, proud members of the Major Arena Soccer League (www.MASLSoccer.com), beat the Harrisburg Heat 6-3 at home on January 16.
The Chicago Mustangs came out strong the first quarter with a good portion of possession and some good chances on goal. At 8:42, the Heat manage to sneak a ball past Mustangs goalkeeper Jesus Flores. With three seconds left, Mustangs Miguel Vaca gets a shot off but his half volley goes wide left. The quarter ended with the Mustangs down 0-1.
The second quarter starts with good team defense by Chicago Mustangs' Jesus Flores, Joshio Sandoval, and Edwin Rojas. At 7:15, Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista slips the ball past the Heat goalkeeper with an assist from Miguel Vaca, 1-1. The Heat respond with a goal at 8:26 giving them a 2-1 lead. At 13:20, Ricardo Carvalho gets a hold of the ball and one times it off a Heat defender into the net, bringing the game to a 2-2 tie.
The Mustangs return from halftime ready to take the lead. Shots are taken but missed by Taylor Bond, Osvaldo Rojas, Efrain "Wilo" Martinez, Miguel Vaca and Douglas Dos Santos. At 8:21, Ricardo Carvalho scores his second goal of the night off of a free kick, giving the Mustangs their first lead of the game. The third quarter ends with the Mustangs up 3-2.
The fourth quarter starts with the Heat getting on the scoreboard first, bringing the game to a tie again, 3-3. At 5:31, the Mustangs respond with Joshio Sandoval scoring his first goal of the night with an assist from Adolfo "Bofo" Bautista, 4-4. Alexis Camarena scores his first goal of the night at 10:24 with a left-footed shot assisted by Luis Ortega, 5-3. At 14:40, Taylor Bond brings the game to 6-3.
