Ontario Fury News Release

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, acquired forward Lucio Gonzaga in exchange for cash considerations from the Harrisburg Heat just before the Major Arena Soccer League trade deadline Friday night.

Gonzaga was the co-leading goal scorer for the Heat with five goals for the Heat, who are last in the league with only 39 goals in 11 games this season. Before joining the Heat, Gonzaga spent the previous six seasons (and seven seasons total) with the Baltimore Blast in the MISL and MASL. In 111 games with Baltimore, he scored 86 goals and had 34 assists.

"We believe Lucio will be able to fill the role we need up front as we start the second half of the season," said Fury president and coach Bernie Lilavois.

Gonzaga will join the Fury in Chicago and is expected to make his debut with Ontario in Sunday's game. He will wear No. 85. The Fury also expects Semir Mesanovic, signed earlier this week, to make his Ontario debut Sunday.

The MASL trade deadline was midnight Jan. 15. Teams must submit their final 20-man playoff rosters by Jan. 31, 2016, but may add two players to their roster on Feb. 1 who will be ineligible for playoff competition.

The Ontario Fury will continue its four-game road trip at 1 p.m. Sunday against the Chicago Mustangs at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. Ontario will fly back to Southern California before embarking on a two-day, two-game trip to Northern California next weekend to take on the Turlock Express and Sacramento Surge.

Ontario will return to Citizens Business Bank Arena at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 to take on the Sacramento Surge. The game will be the first of two over the weekend for the Fury, as they will take on the San Diego Sockers at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31.

Tickets for all Ontario Fury games are on sale at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office and online at AXS.com.
