Chicago Fire Soccer Club in the Community Update June 21 - 27

CHICAGO, IL (June 21, 2010) - The Chicago Fire are participating in a series of community events across the Chicagoland area over this week. Throughout the year, the Fire participate in hundreds of community events to work with youth, charities and other organizations to promote the game of soccer by advocating wellness, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activities and education.

This week's events feature Chicago Fire players Sean Johnson and Steven Kinney at the Community Soccer Series on Thursday, June 24 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium - North Central College. In addition, Chicago Fire forward Brian McBride will be visiting Children's Memorial Hospital on Thursday, June 24. Lastly, Fire mascot Sparky will be at various events throughout the weekend including Chicago Rush Mascot Game, the 18th Annual Humana Race to Taste and Chicago Fire Day at Arlington Park.

Community Soccer Series

Who: Chicago Fire players Sean Johnson and Steven Kinney; Fire mascot Sparky

When: Thursday, June 24; 3:30 - 5:30 PM CT

Where: Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium @ North Central College; 455 S. Brainard St., Naperville, IL 60540

What: The Chicago Fire is hosting its second clinic of the series on Thursday, June 24 from 3:30 - 5:30 PM CT. This clinic will take place at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium located on North Central College's campus in Naperville. These free clinics are open to athletes from around the community, ages 7-14. This series is designed to instruct young athletes on the technical elements of soccer, while educating them on physical fitness, health and wellness. Participants will receive a Community Soccer Series t-shirt and autograph session with Chicago Fire players, Sean Johnson and Steven Kinney. Click here for more information.

Children's Memorial Hospital Visit

Who: Chicago Fire forward Brian McBride

When: Thursday, June 24; 4:00 PM CT

Where: Children's Memorial Hospital - 2515 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL

What: In the spirit of the World Cup, Chicago Fire Forward Brian McBride, in conjunction with the Chicago Fire Foundation, will be visiting Children's Memorial Hospital on Thursday, June 24 to help spread joy to its patients. During his visit, Brian will donate a giant Jabulani soccer ball and present the hospital a check on behalf of the Chicago Fire Foundation. Chicago Rush Mascot Game

When: Saturday, June 26; 7:00 PM CT

Where: Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Rd, Rosemont, IL

What: Cheer on Sparky as he faces his furry friends in a special Mascot Football Game during halftime of the Chicago Rush vs. Orlando Predators home game. 18th Annual Humana Race to Taste

Where: Grant Park - Columbus & Balbo, Chicago, IL

What: Ready...set...race! The 18th Annual Humana Race to Taste 5K Run/2-Mile Walk will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2010. This year, take a new route through Chicago's beautiful Grant Park and lakefront, and stay for activities and great food at Taste of Chicago.
