Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Major League Soccer today announced that Chicago Fire FC will face the New England Revolution in its 2021 home opener at Soldier Field on Saturday, April 17. The match against the Revolution is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and Univision Radio Chicago.
Additionally, MLS announced the Fire will play its first away game of the season against Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, April 24. The match versus Atlanta is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and Univision Radio Chicago.
On the night of the home opener, at 7:00 p.m. CT, WGN-TV will exclusively air "Make No Little Plans: Chicago Fire FC 2021 Season Preview." The all-access show will chronicle the Club's offseason moves, preseason training camp in Florida and the many storylines surrounding the Club as it begins its second season at Soldier Field. The show will deliver unprecedented access to Chicago Fire FC and include profiles of players and coaches, as well as explore what to expect from the upcoming season.
The Season Preview Special will also include storytelling and fundraising for the Chicago Fire Foundation, the charitable arm of the Chicago Fire Football Club. The special will be dedicated to celebrating the Chicago community and raising awareness and resources to fuel the Foundation's sports-based youth and direct-service programs in our City's most under-resourced communities. Proceeds will benefit the Fire Foundation's award-winning P.L.A.Y.S. (Participate, Learn, Achieve, Youth, Soccer) Program, which aims to enhance the academic performance and development of key social and emotional (SEL) skills of elementary school students through a sports-based curriculum.
Along with the Chicago Park District and ASM Global, the Fire continues to work closely with the Mayor's Office and hopes to be able to announce plans in the coming weeks regarding fans safely returning to Soldier Field. Details on how to secure tickets for the 2021 season will be shared at that time.
The Fire's complete regular season schedule, as well as details about how to stream games online, will be announced in the coming weeks.
