New England Revolution Announce 2021 Opening Matches
March 10, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Major League Soccer has announced its lineup of home openers for the 2021 season. The Revolution will open the 2021 MLS campaign at Soldier Field, where the club will face Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, April 17 at 8:30 p.m. ET. New England then opens its 2021 home slate against D.C. United at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, April 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The complete 34-game regular season schedule will be announced at a later date, while the full list of MLS home openers is available now on MLSsoccer.com.
With the Commonwealth of Massachusetts transitioning to Phase IV of its COVID-19 reopening beginning March 22, enabling large capacity venues throughout the state to host guests in 2021, the Revolution will welcome a 12-percent capacity crowd when the team makes its home debut against D.C. United on April 24. This will mark the first time since last year's season opener against Chicago Fire FC on March 7 that fans will be permitted to attend a match at Gillette Stadium.
New England Revolution 2021 MLS Regular Season Schedule

The Revolution have secured points in all but four of their home openers (9-4-5) at Gillette Stadium, and own a 14-6-5 all-time record in opening games in Foxborough. Last season, the Revolution posted an unbeaten 3-0-1 mark against D.C. United, who will visit Foxborough on April 24. New England has hosted its long-time Eastern Conference rival in its home opener on six occasions - most recently in 2016 - and has recorded a 4-1-1 mark in those matches.
New England is set to open the season with an away match for the 13th consecutive year and for the 25th time in 26 seasons. The Revolution own a 1-6-3 record in their last 10 season openers, a mark the side will look to improve upon when it visits Chicago Fire FC on April 17. New England defeated Chicago, 2-1, in its lone visit to Solder Field in 2020. The sides have met in a season opener three times before, with the Revolution facing Fire FC to open the 2003, 2007, and 2013 MLS seasons.
