
Chicago Fire Face Busy Week with Matches against Toronto FC and New England Revolution

The Chicago Fire (10-11-5, 35 points) face a busy week of Eastern Conference action when they head to BMO Field to take on Toronto FC on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. CT (My50/La Ley 107.9) before returning home to welcome the New England Revolution (10-10-7, 37 points) to Toyota Park on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. CT (My50/La Ley 107.9).
This is the first of two meetings between the Fire and Toronto FC this season. The Fire will host the second leg at Toyota Park on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The match against the Revolution will be the third and final meeting between the two sides this season. The Fire fell 1-0 in the Toyota Park opener on March 9 and fell 2-0 at Gillette Stadium on Aug. 17. This match will serve as Sustainability Night presented by Nicor Gas Energy Efficiency Program. The first 5,000 fans in the stadium will receive a limited edition Fire scarf.

CHICAGO FIRE vs. Toronto FC
- The Chicago Fire hold a 7-3-4 regular season record against Toronto FC, including a 4-3-1 record in matches played at BMO Field.
- Two members of the Fire coaching staff spent time with Toronto FC. Assistant coach Mike Matkovich served in the same capacity with Toronto FC in 2007, as did Leo Percovich in 2009.
- Fire forward Quincy Amarikwa spent the second half of the 2012 season with Toronto FC. Amarikwa tallied one assist in 11 MLS appearances for the TFC. Amarikwa also scored a goal against Liverpool in the World Football Challenge and against Santos Laguna in CONCACAF Champions League play.
- The Fire will be without the services of midfielder Joel Lindpere (Estonia) and Arevalo Rios (Uruguay) who are currently with their respective nations for FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
- Mike Magee's goal in the 26th minute of the Fire's Sept. 7 match against the Seattle Sounders was his 15th of the season. Magee now sits in second place of the tightly-contested MLS Golden Boot race. Magee's previous career high was seven goals in his 2003 rookie season with the MetroStars.
CHICAGO FIRE vs. New England Revolution
- The Fire hold a 19-17-9 all-time MLS Regular Season record against the Revolution and are 11-5-6 in matches played at home.
- Selected by the Revolution in the fourth round (45th overall) in the 2005 MLS Supplemental Draft, Larentowicz made 111 regular season appearances for the Revolution from 2005-2009. The Revolution reached MLS Cup in his first three seasons with the side.
- Wells Thompson was drafted by the New England Revolution in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft, and went on to make 71 regular season appearances in three seasons for the Revolution. In his rookie season, Thompson made 27 appearances and started 11 matches, then started all four post-season games for the Revs, including the 2007 MLS Cup final. Thompson made his MLS debut against the Fire on April 7, 2007. He also notched his first professional goal against the Men in Red on May 6, 2007.
- Larentowicz and Thompson joined the Colorado Rapids in 2010 in a trade that sent former Fire defender Cory Gibbs to the New England Revolution.
- Milford, Mass. product Michael Videira was selected in the second round (18th overall) in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft but elected to sign with Hamilton Academical of the Scottish Premier League. Videira returned to sign with the Revolution in 2009, making 12 appearances and played a total of 973 minutes from 2009-10.
CHICAGO FIRE SOCCER CLUB ANNOUNCES FINAL THREE #cf97ThirdKit DESIGNS
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Monday that the Chicago Fire and The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., have chosen the final three designs for the #cf97ThirdKit design contest.
The club partnered with iconic jersey sponsor The Quaker Oats Company to launch the #cf97ThirdKit design contest, asking Fire supporters to submit designs for the jersey the Fire plans to unveil at the club's Anniversary game in 2014. The club, along with Quaker Oats, selected the five best entries, which through a fan vote on www.Chicago-Fire.com were narrowed down to the final three designs.
The final round of voting on the top three designs, found here, is now open and will run to Friday, Sept. 20 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Fans can vote for their favorite design on www.Chicago-Fire.com up to ten times per e-mail address per day.
The winning design will become a part of Fire history and will be scheduled to make its debut for the Anniversary game in 2014, in addition to other future matchday opportunities. The winner will also receive round trip airfare and accommodations for two to attend the Fire's match against the Portland Timbers in 2014, including a private tour of the adidas campus in Portland, an opportunity to meet with adidas jersey designers and $500.00 to spend at the adidas employee store. All five selected designers from the finalist round will receive two tickets to sit in the Chicago Fire's Second Star Club for a Fire match.
CHICAGO FIRE TO CELEBRATE FIRE FRIDAYS AT THE GALWAY ARMS
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will celebrate Fire Fridays at The Galway Arms (2442 N. Clark Street) on Friday, Sept. 13 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. CT ahead of the Fire's match against Eastern Conference foe New England Revolution at Toyota Park on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. CT (My50.La Ley 107.9).
Anyone wearing Chicago Fire gear at the event will receive $1 off all drafts.
The club launched the Fire Fridays campaign in an effort to engage soccer supporters, deepen relationships and build a stronger club culture throughout the Chicagoland area. The Fire have partnered with local bars, restaurants and establishments to wear Fire gear on Fridays and designated event days throughout the MLS season. The Fire will also bring together Fire players, partners, front office and supporters for a happy hour or event prior to each weekend Fire home match during the summer and fall of the 2013 season. CHICAGO FIRE TO HOST FIRST SOCCER & STYLE FASHION SHOW
The Chicago Fire Soccer Club will host a fashion show featuring Chicago Fire players and coaches at the first Soccer & Style event at ROOF on theWit (201 North State Street, Chicago, IL 60601) on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. CT.
Hosted by the Chicago Fire Foundation, Fire players will walk the runway in this season's hottest looks from 900 North Michigan Shops, The Original Penguin, Diesel, Mezlan, Jainn, and Chicago Fire apparel while supporting a good cause.

CHICAGO FIRE TO PARTICIPATE IN CULINARY KIDS INITIATIVE PROGRAM
Chicago City Clerk Susana A. Mendoza and Illinois Comptroller Judy Barr Topinka have partnered with Chicago's sports teams to release a cookbook and activity guide aimed at teaching grade school children the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
On Sept. 12, Fire mascot Sparky will join Mendoza, Topinka, local school children and his fellow Chicagoland mascots at the Palmer House Hilton (17 E. Monroe, Chicago, IL 60603) at 11:00 a.m. CT for a short media availability and a cooking demonstration where Palmer House Hilton Chef Stephen Henry and the kids will prepare a sample of the healthy meals from the cookbook.
