
Chicago Fire Academy Goalkeeper Damian Las Called up to U-17 U.S. Men's National Team for 2019 CONCACAF U-17 Championship

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - Chicago Fire Academy goalkeeper Damian Las has been called up to the U-17 U.S. Men's National Team for the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship. Set to occur from May 1-16, the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship will be held at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The U-17 USMNT will join Canada, Barbados and Guatemala in Group F in the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship. Las and the U-17s will open up the tournament against Canada on Thursday, May 2 at 5:00 p.m. CT. Two days later, the U-17s will face Barbados on Saturday, May 4 at 3:00 p.m. CT, before concluding the group stage against Guatemala on Monday, May 6 at 5:00 p.m. CT.
This year's tournament features a new format, as 20 nations will participate in the competition. The tournament's four semifinalists will advance to the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil as representatives of Concacaf.
Las, a native of Norridge, Ill., recently featured in the 2019 Generation adidas Cup for the Chicago Fire Academy's U-17 side. In the team's final match of the tournament, Las made a pair of saves during a penalty-kick shootout to help lead the team to a win over K-League 1 side Ulsan Hyundai.
