Crestwood, IL- The Cook County Cheetahs (11-11) beat the Washington Wild Things (17-8) 4-2. The Cheetahs starting pitcher Brett Stephens (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, going all nine while striking out seven and walking none. Randy Reed was the star hitter tonight as he picked up two RBIs on a double in the bottom of the seventh inning, which gave the Cheetahs the lead for good. Mark Walker singled in the top of the 8th to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. The Wild Things starting pitcher, Ben Ally (1-3), took the loss, going seven innings and allowing 4 earned runs.
"We were able to execute in all aspects this evening. Stephens did a great job tonight, we couldn't have asked for any more out of him tonight. Walker has done a great job for the past 10 games. We need to come out and do the same thing tomorrow, and try to get another winning streak started," said Cheetahs Manager Mike Moore.
For the third consecutive night, the Cheetahs had their highest attendance of the season, as 2,275 fans attended the game.
