
Kings Fall in Extra Innings

The Kalamazoo Kings (9-16) defeated the Kenosha Mammoths (10-13) 6-5 in extra innings last Sunday at Homer Stryker Field. But in Saturday night's extra inning contest at Simmons Field, the Kings ended on the losing side of the battle.
The Kings got behind early, as the Mammoths scored 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Kings countered, scoring one run in the top of the 3rd and another run in the top of the 5th to tie the score at 2-2.
The Mammoths scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. With runners on 1st and 3rd with one out, Kenosha left fielder Andrew Huling singled to right field, driving in the winning run.
Second baseman Tino Burgos went 2-4 for the game with a single and a double and scored both runs for the Kings. Center fielder Darryl Blaze and left fielder Chris Carter each picked up an RBI with singles.
Kings starter David McWatters pitched 8 1/3 solid innings, scattering 8 hits while striking out 6. Reliever Greg Wiltshire took the loss, moving his record to 0-3.
The Kings will try to split the series with the Kenosha Mammoths Sunday afternoon at Simmons Field. The game begins at 2:05 p.m. central time (3:05 p.m. eastern) You can tune into the game on the Sports Station, AM 1660 WQSN, or listen live on the Internet at www.wqsn.com.
