Rockford, IL-The Rockford RiverHawks (15-12) extended their franchise record winning streak to seven games as they defeated the Richmond Roosters 5-3 at Marinelli Field. Scott Sobkowiak (3-4) tossed a complete game as he scattered five hits and gave up three runs, while striking out seven Roosters. Rockford jumped out early and never trailed in the game. Casey DeGroote and Doug Schutt each went 2-for-4 with a RBI for Rockford. Chris Spigner (5-1) was saddled with the loss; he gave up four runs on nine hits in 6.1 innings.
The team will now travel to Mid-Missouri for a three-game set beginning on Tuesday. The RiverHawks will be back at home beginning on Friday against River City. It will be Travel Mug giveaway sponsored by 96.7 FM and Bryden Motors. On Saturday it will be Replica Jersey giveaway thanks to Fisher Nuts, 97 ZOK, and WTVO-17. Midwest Championship Wrestling will be at Marinelli Field on July 12. The action starts at 7:00 p.m., with gates opening at 6:00. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the RiverHawks at 964-BALL.
The Rockford RiverHawks are hosting a Los Lobos concert in the Marinelli Field parking lot on Sunday, July 27. Gates open at 12:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 1:00 p.m. People who have tickets to the concert will get into the game for free and concessions will be open. Tickets are on sale now.
