CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers took four points during their three game stay in Mississippi including two points on a 3-2 win Sunday night.

The Checkers struck first when Matthew Ford jumped on the ice as an extra attacker when Mississippi was signaled for a delayed penalty. Ford continued his hot streak by wiring a slap shot over the blocker of Sea Wolves goaltender Ryan Munce at 1:36 of the first period putting up the Checkers 1-0. The Sea Wolves evened things up on the power play when Travis Lisabeth redirected a point shot from Mathieu Melanson at 6:00 tying the game at 1-1. The Sea Wolves would capture a 2-1 advantage during a two-man advantage when Mike Wirll one-timed a shot past a sprawling Checkers goalie Jeff Jakaitis at 18:16.

During the second period, the Checkers tied the contest and it would be Ford again as he stepped to the crease and lifted the puck under the cross bar and over the catching glove of Munce while on the power-play at 8:44.

The final period saw the decisive goal scored by the Checkers as Mike Taylor found a loose puck in the crease and flipped it over the left pad of Munce to score his second game winning goal in as many nights.
