Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - In a matinee special the Victoria Salmon Kings and Stockton Thunder clashed in the rubber match of the teams three game set. Goaltender Todd Ford started in net for the Kings while the Thunder countered with Bryan Pitton.

The Salmon Kings struck first with a power play marker as Wes Goldie fired a puck top shelf blocker side for the 1-0 lead. It was Goldie's fifth goal in the last four games. Stockton would tie the game when James Bates snapped a shot past Ford. The game was tied at 1-1 after the first period.

The second period saw chances at both ends, but Stockton was the only team to take advantage. Bryan Lerg stole an outlet past and came in all alone on Ford and wired a shot past the Kings' netminder for the 2-1 lead. The goal was a shorthanded marker. The score remained 2-1 after 40 minutes.

The Thunder took control in the third period, and were rewarded when Justin Chwedoruk scored on a wrap-around goal. That would finish the scoring for the afternoon. Thunder 3 Salmon Kings 1.

Victoria went 1/6=16.7% on the power play and Stockton ended 0/4=0%. The Thunder out shot the Salmon Kings 28-26.
