VICTORIA, British Columbia - Wes Goldie scored two goals while linemate Dan Gendur tallied two points (1g-2a), helping the Victoria Salmon Kings send the Stockton Thunder (1-3-0, 2 points) to a 5-2 defeat before a crowd of 4,192 at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Saturday.

The Thunder were outshot 42-20 in the game. Victoria goaltender Jonathan Boutin made 18 saves to garner his first win of the season.

Goldie registered his third goal in as many games to put Victoria up 1-0 with 7:21 left in the first period, scoring on a breakaway with a wrist shot that eluded the five-hole of Thunder goaltender Bryan Pitton.

Victoria outshot the Thunder 18-6 in the opening 20 minutes. Pitton helped keep the game close with a point-blank save on Goldie and helped thwart a Salmon Kings two-man advantage in the closing minutes.

Cory Urquhart's third goal of the season knotted the score at 1-1 at the 5:11 mark of the second period, when he corralled David Rohlfs' centering pass in the slot and rifled a backhanded shot past the blocker side of Boutin.

Victoria then delivered three straight goals to assume a 4-1 lead, beginning with Brady Leavold's marker just 52 seconds after Urquhart's goal. Dan Gendur notched his second goal of the year to put the Salmon Kings up 3-1, when he took Olivier Filion's drop pass at the right circle and ripped a one-timer past Pitton.

Wes Goldie's second goal of the game expanded the Salmon Kings lead to 4-1 at 13:19, converting a Gendur feed at the right side of the crease.

Neil Petruic's first goal of the year on the power-play whittled the deficit to 4-2, when the Thunder defenseman took a pass from Cleve Kinley at the left point and fired a wrist shot past Boutin.

The Thunder returned to the final period with a spike in energy but were denied in their bid to cut the deficit to one goal when Bryan Lerg's forehand bid at the top of the crease slammed off the goal post in the opening 10 minutes.

Victoria wrapped up the game on Olivier Labelle's third goal of the year with 3:09 left in regulation, with Daryl Lloyd and Travis Ramsey picking up the assists.

Pitton made 37 saves which also included a highlight stop in the final period on a Chris St. Jacques one-timer from below the hash marks.
